FaeFrame is a home for fan-authored characters, original characters, and cinematic storytelling. This policy explains what you may upload, your responsibilities as a creator, and how copyright owners can reach us if they believe their rights have been infringed.

Note: This policy is written in plain language to be useful to you. It is not legal advice and it is not a substitute for the consumer protections that apply to you under your local law. Where applicable law conflicts with this document, applicable law controls.

1. Fan Characters

Fan characters are permitted on FaeFrame, provided the content complies with this policy, our Terms of Service, and our safety rules.

A "fan character" is a fictional character inspired by, adapted from, or set within the world of another creator's copyrighted work — for example, a knight from an existing fantasy series, an original student at a fictional academy from a novel, or a re-imagined protagonist from a video game.

Fan characters remain the responsibility of the creator who uploads them (see Section 2).

2. User Responsibility

Creators are solely responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights or permissions to upload the content they publish on FaeFrame — including the character's name, portrait, tagline, description, backstory, dialogue, and any other authored material.

FaeFrame does not verify ownership of uploaded content before publication. By uploading content, you represent that you have the legal right to do so.

3. Artwork

You may upload artwork that you:

  • Created yourself.
  • Commissioned and have permission to use.
  • Have a license or explicit permission from the rights holder to use.
  • Generated with AI, provided the output does not intentionally recreate a specific copyrighted artwork, or otherwise infringe another person's intellectual property.

If you did not create the artwork and cannot demonstrate a right or license to use it, please do not upload it.

4. AI-Generated Artwork

How artwork is created — drawn, painted, photographed, commissioned, or AI-generated — does not change the creator's responsibility to ensure they have the legal right to upload and use it.

AI-generated portraits are a first-class content type on FaeFrame, but the same rules apply: don't prompt around another artist's signature style with the intent to imitate them; don't submit prompts that recreate copyrighted characters verbatim; and don't attempt to launder infringement through a generative model.

5. Copyrighted Characters

Fan characters are allowed. However, creators remain responsible for respecting the intellectual property rights of the original owners of the source material.

Rights holders sometimes tolerate fan use of their properties; other times they do not. FaeFrame does not adjudicate that relationship in advance.

If a copyright owner (or their authorised representative) submits a valid takedown request that identifies specific infringing content, FaeFrame may remove, disable access to, or unpublish that content without prior notice to the uploader. Where practical we will explain the reason and give the uploader an opportunity to respond or appeal.

6. Repeat Infringement

FaeFrame maintains a repeat-infringement policy. Repeated copyright infringement by the same account may result in:

  • A warning and educational note.
  • Removal of specific characters or artwork.
  • Temporary restrictions on the account (e.g. publish-disabled, private-only, or read-only).
  • Suspension.
  • Permanent account termination in the most serious or repeated cases.

The response we take is proportionate to the seriousness and frequency of the violations.

7. Copyright Reports

If you are a copyright owner (or an authorised representative of one) and you believe content on FaeFrame infringes your rights, please contact us with the following information so we can act quickly:

  • Your name and, where relevant, the name of the rights-holder entity you represent.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed (e.g. the character, the artwork, the publication).
  • Direct links to the infringing content on FaeFrame (character URLs, portrait URLs, or profile URLs).
  • A statement, made in good faith, that you believe the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Your contact information — a reliable email address at minimum, and a physical mailing address where possible.
  • Your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name in the notice email is acceptable).

We will review valid notices and respond in a timely manner. Malicious or knowingly false takedown claims may themselves be subject to legal consequences under applicable law.

8. Counter-Notices and Restoration

If your content is removed and you believe the removal was in error or a result of misidentification, you may email copyright@faeframe.com with:

  • The specific content that was removed (character ID, URL, or filename).
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your contact information.
  • Consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where the FaeFrame operator is established.

If we receive a valid counter-notice we may, at our discretion and consistent with applicable law, restore the content.

9. Changes to This Policy

When this policy materially changes we will increment the version number at the top of this page and make reasonable efforts to notify travelers on their next sign-in. Continued use of FaeFrame after the version is bumped constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
